Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Happy Resurrection Sunday! Today is Easter, one of my favorite days of the year. It is very significant for those of us who follow Christ Jesus.

In preparation for today, I spent an evening this week at an explanation of the Jewish Passover. The organization, Jews for Jesus, was connecting each element of a traditional Passover feast with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. It was incredible! Very thought provoking, convincing and powerful. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind Jesus is the Lamb of God.

At the close, the host had us stand while he pronounced the priestly blessing over us. He first sang it in Hebrew and then spoke it over us in English. It was beautiful. He was reciting the blessing the Lord instructed Moses to have the Israelite priests bless His people with. This is how it goes:

We too have that same hope in Jesus. He not dead, He is alive and seated in heaven at this very moment.

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine upon you
And be gracious to you;
The Lord turn his face toward you
And give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26

I remember standing there, with this person singing a beautiful blessing of God’s favor over us, and in that moment, it reassured my heart that God is kind, merciful, and continually watching over me. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of the moment. It was very powerful.

I’m sure God instructed the Israelites priests to give this blessing as a constant reminder of how He was for them. They went through some dark times, but this blessing had to be a beacon of hope for God’s people.

We too have that same hope in Jesus. He not dead, He is alive and seated in heaven at this very moment. This is the hope of today, this is the hope of Easter. Jesus is a constant reminder of how God is for us!

Do you know what He’s doing right now? He’s acting as our High Priest before God. Which I believe means he is also singing this priestly blessing over us (Zeph. 3:17; Heb. 2:11).

Maybe today we’ll all rush out to church, or to family gatherings or perhaps we’ll stay home and watch baseball. Whatever your plans are, I hope you’ll first take a moment to sit in silence, and listen closely to hear Jesus singing these exact word over you:

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine upon you
And be gracious to you;
The Lord turn his face toward you
And give you peace.”

God is for you. Jesus is for you. He is alive and seated in Heaven rejoicing over you. May you feel His presence, peace and love today. Happy Easter!
