God is in the Business of Resurrection!

God is in the Business of Resurrection!

God is in the business of resurrection, that’s incredible news! Today as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus it’s a good time to reflect on what this means for us presently. My prayer is that you will take the time to commemorate, celebrate and personalize this event!

As I reflect on the resurrection this week, this verse has been playing repeatedly in my mind, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25). Here are three things that happened that changed history...

1. The payment for sin HAS BEEN MADE!

As Jesus hung on the cross His final words were ‘it is finished!’ then he gave up His spirit (John 19:30). Every word prophesied about Him was completed, every nuance of the Law fulfilled and every sin, past, present and future paid for on that cross (Hebrews 10:12).

2. DEATH HOLDS NO POWER because Jesus was raised!

When the payment was made, the grave broke wide open! Immediately after Jesus gave up His spirit, the earth shook and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life in that moment (Matthew 27:52). Death had lost its power eternally! Why? Because “the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law” (I Corinthians 15:56). The reward for finishing the law and paying for sin WAS LIFE. With this bold move Jesus became the SOURCE of eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:9), Which means that it originated with him, it flows out of him and He is the supply for its power.

3. Jesus has justified you so God considers you NOT GUILTY!

Immediately after Jesus uttered those famous words of completion, the Temple veil was torn in two from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51). God threw wide open the access to His presence. Now we enter through the veil of Jesus’ body, which ushers us into the very presence of God the Father (Hebrews 10:19-20). This exchange of our sin for His righteousness gives us what we need to STAND in God’s presence ( II Corinthians 5:21 ). We can do this because we have been justified, acquitted, declared not guilty, absolved and cleansed from sin and its effects.

What does this mean for you today, tomorrow and next year?

It means you have resurrection life right now, today! Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, Christ MADE YOU ALIVE, when you were dead and HE RAISED AND SEATED you with Him in the heavenly realm (Ephesians 2:5-6). Today is a day of hope, today is a day to celebrate life and today YOU HAVE PEACE with God (Romans 5:1).
