The God Who Sees Me

The God Who Sees Me

I’ve been struggling lately with disappointment, and discouragement. I hate when I’m in this place. It’s hard, it’s lonely and it is beyond frustrating.

Have you ever been here?

Yesterday, like most lunch hours, I spent my time at a local coffee shop studying. During this time, a friend who I haven’t seen for years, walked in. We chatted and when time came for me to leave, she wanted to pray for me. I hadn’t shared much of anything prior to this.

She started to pray, but not just any prayer, rather hands-on prayer ministry, the kind that’s deep, invasive and brings healing. It has been years since I’ve experienced this type of Holy Spirit saturated prayer ministry and I knew I desperately needed it in that moment.

As I waited in the quiet before she began, I was nervous, yet excited thinking, “what is God going to say?” But as she started, God, who knew my heart, spoke through her addressing each one of those secret pains. In those moments the coffee shop disappeared, time stood still and peace overwhelmed me. Sweet words of encouragement resounded in my ears, given as tenderly as could be from my loving Father

He addressed the things I hadn’t shared, the burdens I carry alone. But He knew what they were and He responded in love and tenderness.

I walked out of the coffee shop thinking, “You are the God who sees me.” (El Roi—Gen 16:13).

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light becomes night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for the darkness is as light to you.
Psalm 139:7-12

If you are in this place today, rest assured that God sees you also. He cares and loves you and He is genuinely concerned with the details of your life.

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17).
