The Title Deed of Faith is Yours
Within the past several years my husband and I have started collecting the titles to the things we own. No longer do we feel the need to have a car payment or make payments on other luxury items in life. Since we have the title to our cars, it means we own them. Since we have the title to our cars it means that we could sell or give them away if we chose to. In fact, since we have the titles, we can do just about anything that we want with them because no longer do they own us, we owe them.
The title deed is the legal declaration of what is ours. The same is true for us as Christians, our title deed to the promises found in God's word is called faith. Hebrews 11:1 says in the Amplified Bible, "NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]" ( Hebrews 11:1 AMP). We could say it this way, faith is the title deed of the things that God has promised to us in His word. If we have the title deed to the promises, it means we own them.
Just because we cannot see them or just because we do not feel them doesn't mean they are not a reality. If God spoke it, then that is the reality. If God spoke it in His word then that is a promise and we can use our faith or title deed to own those precious promises spoken by him.
The difference between knowing it was promised to us and having the promises is what we do with our faith. The King James Bible says that faith is a substance. It says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" ( Hebrews 11:1 KJV ) Faith is what gets you from hoping to having.
We can hope in the promises of God, but we also have to believe them and believe that they will work for us. We have to be fully convinced of their reality. We have to use our faith to perceive them as a real fact, even when our senses tell us something different. Even when our surroundings tell us different and especially when people tell us differently. We have to decide to believe God and trust in his promises... the Amplified says this, concerning faith, it is "the conviction of their reality" the reality of the things we hoped for. We must be convinced that God's word is reality and everything else is a lie. It goes on to say, ‘faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses'. If your faith is going to see the promises of God overtake your life, then you have to let your faith perceive from afar the authenticity of the promises up until the time your senses see them.
Just as owning my car title dictates what I can do with the car. Having faith, the title deed, to the promises of God, dictates what I can do with them. I could park my car in my garage for the next twenty years and it wouldn't hurt it or me, but then I would not benefit from having a car. The same is true of faith. I could have faith and talk about it, but unless I use it, unless I appropriate it, it will not benefit me at all. Faith is the confirmation, the title deed, the conviction of what we hope for. Faith perceives what we hope for before it is a reality to the senses. Faith is the key to unlocking those sweet and precious promises that God has promised us. Hebrews 11:6 says, "that without faith it is impossible to please him" so the opposite is also true, using your faith pleases God. Faith is already yours, you have the title deed and it is ready and waiting to be used for the glory of God.
