Why is Jesus Seated in Heaven?

Hello Juli,
I see the priestly ritual on the Day of Atonement not a total understanding of what Christ is doing in the heavenly throne, as He is also King as the writer of Hebrews says in the seventh chapter. Kings sit on thrones and priests don't but stand performing that day's services. Is there any theological reason when He is seated? When is the heavenly throne (sanctuary) cleansed on that day?
Your thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated.

Lord bless,
Michael

Hello Michael,
Yes, absolutely Jesus is the King, in fact He is the fulfillment of all three Old Testament offices... the King, the Priest and the Prophet, which is amazing!

And you are right He is not repeatedly offering (or performing) priestly duties now as Hebrews 7, 8, 9 & 10 mention over and over (& over) that He only needed to do it once for all, which is incredible! (Hebrews 7:27; 9:11-12, 25-26, 28; 10:12, 14, 18). He offered it once and then He sat down, showing that the work is done and was successful the first and ONLY time it was given. So this is also why He is seated, because His work is done... finished! There is nothing left to do, He's done it all. Everything that needed to be done he did! So it is from a stance of authority, dominion and as you mentioned His position as King that He is seated! What a GREAT thing to place our hope in!

Thanks, Juli
