Can You Lose Your Salvation?
Juli
Base on your view on Hebrews, chapter 6, do you believe that a believer can lose their salvation?
Thank You,
Dave
Good morning Dave,
Thanks for contacting me. No, I do not believe we can lose our salvation, I believe in eternal redemption, and the scripture is very clear on it. However, based on Hebrews 6 (& Hebrews 10 & I Peter 2:20-21) I believe a person can renounce their salvation (which is not losing it, but rather giving it back), however there are conditions to this and it is only possible for a mature believer who is fully aware of what they are doing.
Here is a 4 part series that I wrote on this to explain this.
Subjecting the Son to Public Disgrace (Hebrews 6:4-6)
The Basis of Eternal Redemption (Hebrews 6:4-6)
What Does it Mean to Fall Away? (Hebrews 6:4-6)
The Conditions of Becoming Reprobate (Hebrews 6:4-6)
This is a tough passage of scripture, however I believe this is in the scriptures to show the FULL extent of God's grace. God chose us and in return He desires for us to choose (& continually choose) Him. This is the highest form of relationship one can have... one of mutual choice.
Hope this helps! Have a wonderful day!
Thanks, Juli
