Romans 5 fleshes out what it means to be justified and the blessings associated with it. We have peace with God, access to God, and hope and perseverance amid suffering. At the core, we have a new life in Christ Jesus with the Holy Spirit as our guide and comfort. Paul spends half of the chapter, comparing and contrasting the trespass, or the fall of Adam, with the gift of God in Jesus Christ. In this comparison, he shows that Jesus’ sacrifice was far superior, more extravagant and far greater, than the result of Adam’s sin.
