Blessed with Every Spiritual Blessing in Christ—Ephesians 1:3
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
This morning, I spent an hour studying this verse, looking up the meaning of every word and piecing them together to grasp what it means to be “blessed in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
After spending time consumed by this passage, I stopped and grabbed a journal written 10 years ago. The rest of my journals are in boxes, but this particular one has a permanent place on my desk. I leafed through it, reading my thoughts from so many years ago. It contained page after page of me wrestling with scripture, my calling, and the desire to feel God’s presence. It was a crucial time in my life as this is when the Lord started revealing Himself and His purpose for me.
The truth is, each and every one of the things I was praying about had been answered, revealed, and fulfilled in ways that I could have never imagined. Having the benefit of hindsight and looking back over the past 10 years, I can see this verse from Ephesians in action. Being blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ is not merely an idea or doctrine, it is the work of God, wrought through time and trust in Him bringing His reality into our lives.
God has blessed us!
This means He causes us “to prosper, to make happy, to bestow blessings on."
God has blessed us in all things!
This means that He blesses us to, "the highest degree," the maximum of what is referred to.”
This blessing is given to usin the spiritual realm.
This is an after Pentecost idea, meaning this blessing is for the Church.
And most of all, we are blessed in Christ.
It has nothing to do with us, but everything to do with Jesus.
And for this we praise the Father!
No wonder that later on in this chapter, Paul pauses to pray that we will have a Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we can know this hope and the riches of His glorious inheritance for us who believe (Eph. 1:17-18).
In Christ, You, too, are blessed!
In Christ, you also are blessed in this way—with every spiritual blessing!
Today, I pray to God that you and I will be able to comprehend this and that this discovery will enable us walk in that blessing.
